an aberrant 84% last month, I have been
trying to duplicate the effort, unsuccessfully.
I had said I was going to get my iPod back and see if that was going
to make the difference. Then instead of hitting a percentage that day, I
got invited to play some full court. How could I say no?
It was great fun to play again. I threw a few bad passes, hit a good
assist, made a great move and hit a jumper, hit a three later, missed
some shots, got rubbery legs for the third game, and arrived at
Psychiatric Morning Report still sweating, despite having taken a shower
after the three games.
Today I went into the gym and strapped the iPod onto my left
shoulder. I had the gym to myself, and I
started shooting around. I could tell after the
first three shots that I was on. They just went in soft. Straight net.
So I hit the percentage. And hit an 83, with an 18 shot streak. It felt
like I had hit better than the other day last month. It was close,
anyway.
I don't know if the iPod made a difference, or the difference,
but the music helps. The ball helps too. I had a fairly new ball, with
good grip.

I hit 82/100 on Wednesday morning, and now breaking 80% feels
routine. I'd like to improve on that. It's a great game of
concentration, and I work up a little sweat doing it.
