This is a project I did in July 2005 with fiberglass to create a canopy for the 35% Cap 232

I cut 12 or 13 rectangle from 2 inch thick pink foam. This foam was purchased at Leow's in a 4x8 sheet. |

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
They will be stacked up to form a full size plug of the finished part |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The blue papers are forms cut to the profile shape that I was trying to achieve |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
This is what the forms look like. If you look closely you may be able to see that each form is slightly smaller than the previous one. |

Cut the foam to the approximate shape of each form |

Glue them together in a big stack. I used 3M spray adhesive |

Shaped with 60 grit sandpaper |

Lay up a layer of fiberglass, followed by 5 or 6 more layers |

The finished fiberglass canopy is painted black and installed on the Cap 232 |
