Imbedded Torture

There is nothing I hate more when browsing website than imbedded midis.  Could there be anything more horrendous?  They're awful!  I don't understand why people insist on torturing their visitors like that.  Ya see, music is very important to me, I listen to music almost constantly, especially when I'm on the computer, and I don't want my music interrupted by some ridiculous midi, it's very annoying.

Imagine this.  You're just chillin, surfing the web, looking at various websites.  Your listening to Nine Inch Nails, you got the volume turned way up, Trent Reznor's marvelous voice pouring into your ears, the music's rocking your soul, your blissing out . . . Then BAM!  You click a link and all of the sudden some badly rendered midi version of You Are My Sunshine or some such nonsense starts blaring out your speakers, clashing with poor Trent and making a horrible ear-hemorrhaging cacophony.  You screech in agony and search desperately for a stop button on the page, but alas, there is none!  Now, you have two choices, either pause your precious music, and turn off the speakers so you can view the page in peace, or immediately close the offending page and find something less caustic to browse.  Now which do you think I am more likely to do?  That's right, unless the website made a fantastic first impression (which is unlikely cuz 1, pages with midis tend to not be so hot anyway, and 2, I probably didn't have time to notice any good points of the site while I was being distracted by the horrible noise.) or if I came there for some vital info or resource that I can't easily find somewhere else, I'm going to leave.

Get the point?  If you actually want people to visit your site, DON'T USE IMBEDED MIDIS!!!  Or if you're really stuck on the idea, have them off by default and let your visitors turn them on if they wish, or at least have an off button somewhere easy to find.  Oi, I may be sadistic, but not enough to put an imbedded midi on my page.  And I'm only slightly masochistic, certainly not enough to enjoy that level of torture!
