Previous Officers Since the late 1960’s

 

 

Officer Brittnay Westpfahl

Brittnay resigned from the Melrose Police Department in October 2007.  She is currently employed by the Tomah Police Department since January 2005 as a full-time Officer, where she is also a Field Training Officer.  Brittnay began working for Melrose in May 2004 following a part-time stint as a jailer for Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.  Brittnay attended Fox Valley Technical College where she received her Law Enforcement certification.  She also holds a bachelors degree in criminology from the University of Minnesota.

 

SGT. Mark Patterson

Sgt. Mark Patterson resigned from the Department on December 31, 2005.  Sgt. Patterson was first employed for the Village of Melrose in March of 1999 working as a part-time Officer.  He was promoted to Sergeant in March 2003.  He is also currently employed full-time by La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department.  Mark has served in several special units during his police career.  He has worked in the police field since August 1997.  Mark’s wife is Kersten and they have two sons.  Mark graduated from the Madison Area Technical College in 1993 with an Associates Degree in Police Science.

 

Officer Jim Jacobson

Jim was hired by the Melrose Police Department as a part-time Officer in June 2002 and resigned in December 2003.  While working for the Village, he was working full-time for the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy.  Jim has been employed in Law Enforcement since 1994 and when he left Melrose he continued working for La Crosse County.  His wife’s name is Beth and they have daughters.

 

Officer Leah Chase

Leah worked as a part-time Officer for the Village of Melrose from May 2002 to June 2003.  She held part-time positions with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department such as a Dispatcher, Jailer, Patrol Deputy, and worked Snowmobile and Boat Patrols.  Leah had a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice attained from U.W. Eau Claire in 2003.  Leah left Melrose for full-time employment as an officer for the Township of Menasha Police Department.

 

Officer Erich Zwicker

Erich started working for the Village in April 2001 and left in July 2003.  Erich graduated in 2000 from U.W. Eau Claire with a Bachelors Degree in Resource Management.  He had worked as a part-time deputy for Jackson County before securing full-time employment by the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department.  When Erich left Melrose he continued his employment with La Crosse County.

 

Officer David Wagner

David had been a full-time officer with the City of Black River Falls when he was hired by Melrose.  He worked for the Village of Melrose from June 1995 until resigning in November 2000.  When David left the Village, he also left the City of Black River Falls Police Department a short time later for a full-time Police Chief position in Elroy, Wisconsin.

 

Marshal Jack Haldeman

Jack was born and raised in the Melrose area and was an officer for the Village from September 1991 to May 1998.  Jack was involved in Private Investigator work, and after leaving the Village he moved out of the area.

 

Marshal Eugene Lancour

He worked from May 1984 to December 1994.  “Gene” was a life long resident of the area and served as a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy for many years until his retirement.  Gene worked part-time as the Village Marshal while also working for Jackson County.  After leaving Law Enforcement, Gene retired in the Melrose area.

 

Marshal Beryle Hale

From April 1969 to May 1984, Beryle worked traffic for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and for the Village of Melrose Police Department.  Until 1994, he worked for Jackson County transporting prisoners to various jails in the Midwest.  For thirty-five years, Beryle also served in the National Guard.  He is now retired and currently living in Melrose.

 

Marshal Warren Parker

Marshal Parker was hired to succeed Marshal Wilson Welda in August of 1968.

            Marshal Welda left employment with the Village of Melrose around July 1968.

 

Marshal Sonny Sunnenberg

            Additional information is trying to be acquired in reference to Marshal Sunnenberg.
