Participated in community-sponsored forum on casino gambling, "Community at the Crossroads", at UWMC (2002).  Presentation was televised and presented on the public access channel.  Also interviewed on WSAU radio call-in program and featured in Wausau Daily Herald cover story related to this forum. 

Nominated as a Wisconsin Idea Fellow (2004) by UW Chancellor's office.  Was one of only 7 individuals statewide to be nominated.

Nominated for prestigious statewide Excellence in Teaching Award (2003) by UWMC Steering Committee.  Was one of only about 25 UW Colleges teachers statewide to be nominated.
