About Shakespeare

Shakespeare first came to me in 1995.  He was a 'guide dog to be' and I was his puppy raiser.  I was attending college at AUM at the time and he went to all of my classes with me.  He also attended several Atlanta Braves Baseball Games.  At the age of 14 months, he returned to Southeastern Guide Dogs to complete his training and be matched with a blind partner.  He completed his training in record time and graduated and was placed as a guide 6 months later.  After a year of working as a guide, something (and no one knows what!) happened and he started to refuse to work indoors.  He worked fine outside but his partner  told us that if she tried to go inside, he would get to the door, then turn around and take her back to the parking lot.  The school took him back for a few months, but they were unable to work through his problems.  They asked me if I would like him back and I JUMPED at the chance.  Shakespeare is my traveling buddy.  He's been to 3 Sheltie Nationals and he attends a lot of the all breed shows with me.  At the first national he attended with us (Virginia Beach, 1999), he made so many friends, that the following year when we attended the national in PA, people from the previous year greeted him like an old friend  ;-)  I get emails from several people from time to time, asking how he is doing, so I decided to create his own website.  Enjoy!
