Tips for getting Faster
- The most import thing in getting faster is to have a good cube, you will never get as fast as you are capable if you don't have a good cube.
- To have a good cube means it turns smoothly and it needs to be loose for fast turning. To do this you need a loose cube. If you want to know how I prepare my cubes click here
- Also it is important to have good stickers on your cube. With bad stickers it is harder to spot the cubes you are looking for and me personally, the fealing of bad stickers distracts me. If your stickers are bad you can make new ones out of colored elctrical tape like I do, or you can buy some new ones from Rubiks.com
- It is very important that you know all you algorithms very well. If you have to stop and think of what algorithm you have to use you are wasteing too much time. Also if you know your algorithm well, but you always jam on it, or it cause you to pop a lot, you might was to consider learning a new algorithm.
- The key to getting faster is droping the time it takes you to get the F2L. To do this you must cut down on your delays. What I did to help me with this is solve the cube really slow and try not to stop, this tought me to look for the next pair. Eventually you will get good at this and you will get faster and faster. Evan after you get faster, you must still pace you self when doing the F2L.
- Another way I improved my F2L times was learning to do all my F2L algorithms from any face, and knowing mutiple F2L algorithms for the same situation. This would also help for the Last Layer too, but I havn't done it yet.
- In the 15 sec pre-inpection time before you solve the cube, make this time usefull, you should be looking how to solve the cross. To practice this, try studying a mixed cube for 15 sec, then close your eyes and solve the cross.
- For me it is very important to have good lighting when I cube. When you have better light, you can go faster. For me this has a big effect on my times.
- When selecting algorithms, it is best to select ones that are best for your hands, I personally like algoithms with out many back turns, but I like algorithms with front turns, but it all depends on what you prefer.
- When learning algorithms you shouldn't rush your self, learn a few then master them and make sure you know them well enough to where you don't have to think what to do when the situation comes up where you have to use it.
- Somthing else that is important is to start with same side every time, this helps you to know better what cubes you need to be looking for.
- This is the most important tip to getting faster, is to Practice like all things if you want to be good you have to practice practice pratice.
