BPAA Lecture Series 2004

Lecture 2

Gravity and Orbits

The basic motions we can observe in the sky with our naked eye can be reviewed in any basic astronomy text:

In Quest of the Universe, Karl Kuhn

Discovering the Universe, Neil Comins & William Kaufman

Both have web sites which can be reached by clicking on the above links. The sites have many links and animations.

You too can fire Newton's Cannon off Newton's Mountain and read a lecture about it from Michael Fowler in the Physics Dept. at the University of Virginia.

Eric Weisstein's MathWorld web site is a superb resource for a wide variety of information in the mathematical sciences including biographical sketches of the notables.
