T3 Consulting

-ABOUT T3-

My name is Miriam Taylor and I am the owner of T3 Consulting.

In 1995 I began teaching Social Studies at Thornapple-Kellogg High school in Middleville, MI. I spent 7 years teaching full-time and the final 2 part-time.

While I was there I developed a web site and then began to be interested in using online tools to enhance my teaching. I developed online summer assignments for my Advanced Placement Government class and then began to incorporate these materials throughout the school year.

This was the focus of my Masters thesis at Western Michigan University. After graduating with my Masters I was asked to teach in the Educational Technology Masters program there, which is an entirely online program. During this time I was trained and later was a TA for Michigan Virtual High School’s Online Instructor Training (OIT) course.

In 2004 I created T3 Consulting. I originally consulted in areas of technology integration but now work almost exclusively training teachers/faculty to teach online. I began by developing a course to train K-12 teachers to create blended courses using MOODLE through various Intermediate School Districts. Since that time I have worked with many K-12 school districts, a private Christian online high school and a university to train instructors to teach either online or blended courses.

I also believe it is very important to continue teaching to keep my skills polished. Therefore, I still regularly teach several masters level education courses for a local university as well as develop curriculum for teachers and high school students.

My recent and past classroom experience constantly reminds me of all the responsibilities a teacher has. I keep these thoughts forefront in my mind as I develop professional development workshops or training sessions. I strive to keep these practical and “hands-on”; to allow plenty of time for questions, interaction and time to practice new technology skills. Whenever possible I try to design sessions that allow teachers or faculty to create end products that can be used immediately in their classroom.

Because of an increasing demand for the services T3 provides I have recently begun to work with a small group of educators. They bring additional specialized skills and experience to T3 Consulting. While they each possess their own unique skills and knowledge, the training they provide will always be developed under the umbrella of T3 Consulting. It will continue to be the same quality you have come to expect but allow T3 Consulting to serve a wider audience of educators and businesses.

Please read below to see the philosophy I carry over into T3 Consulting.

Technology is a tool. . .

Technology is a tool to enhance teaching and student learning. It shouldn't be used just for its own sake. Technology is not the solution to every learning problem but when applied correctly can greatly enhance student success.

First things first. . .

When working with an educational organization it is most important to first define the problem. Too often it is "technology in search of a problem" instead of defining the problem and then applying the appropriate technology answer. T3 does not offer a pre-packaged solution but rather will listen carefully to each organization's needs and then create an individual solution.

Total Support. . .

From the beginning of your project to the completion T3 can provide end to end support. Starting with an initial analysis of the problem, implementation of a customized solution and a final evaluation of effectiveness T3 will guide the process. However, it doesn't stop there. When requested, T3 will provide ongoing support to entire organizationss on down to each individual teacher, faculty or instructor.

Customization and Adaptability. . .

Every school district, educational organization, or teacher is different and have different technology integration needs. The only way for an organization to seamlessly integrate technology is for each educator to feel comfortable with the technology tools they are using with their curriculum. Whenever possible T3 seeks to provide professional development that allows time for each educator to apply the training to their own materials. T3 encourages attendees to bring their own curriculum or other materials to training sessions so it can be individually applied.

Because technology is ever-changing T3 will continue to work with organizations to extend, enhance or advance their technology integration to stay on the cutting edge and remain competitive.
