It was with great anticipation
that we drove the short distance to Commerce, GA for the Stone Mountain
Harley-Davidson Southern Nationals. This was to be our first race on
the new bike on a 1/4 mile strip!
We were very proud to be
running the SE 3 number plate, however the first pass really opened our
eyes. Right off the trailer, the bike ran a 10.16 at 127 MPH!
While this was quite exciting, it was also somewhat of a nightmare as Super
Eliminator is a 10.90 class! It's pretty near impossible to
consistently slow the bike 8 tenths of a second. We finally made it
above the index with an 11.24 second pass qualifying us #28 in a 30 bike
field.
In the first round of
eliminations, we were up against the Lummus Harley Davidson entry, also a
quick bike, and we both broke out. The Lummus entry broke out less and
went on to the next round. We stayed and watched the rest of the
racing action and took some solstice in the fact that we were going to HAVE
to move up to the Super Sport 10.30 index class for the next race. I
will still run the SE 3 number plate on the pit bike though!
Stay tuned for more!
And THANKS for visiting the
MAVRIK Racing pages!
