We took our time getting to Denver
and stayed in Estes Park and visited the Rocky Mountains National Park.
After a quick stop at Walmart and
Camping World, we arrived at the track. This was to be my first race at
Bandimere. I checked the weather station upon arrival to find the density
altitude over 8400 feet, YIKES! Thank you Bill McGrew for the adjusted
index.
As in Norwalk, it took a couple
passes to get dialed in, but in the end I qualified #3. With only an 8
bike field, points would be slim. In round 1, I cut an incredible .406
light but it turned out my opponent broke at the hit of the throttle.
Sorry about that Matt! In the Semi-final, I faced Huffman and I was glad
he picked the right lane because I was afraid I'd red light there. I was a
little less quick in the left lane on the tree, I did not expect to be
asleep though! I cut a terrible .510 light, the worst all season by a
mile. Even so, it was an extremely close race with an 11.756 to 11.748
defeat. I ran the 11.748 on the adjusted 11.75 index. Again, I was
content to be able to tune the bike so very close to the index. Donnie was
cordial and shook my hand at the end of the track. Great sportsmen are
what sportsman racing is all about, right?
Best of all, I left Bandimere in
the #5 spot in the points, moving up 4 positions from before Norwalk. Next
up is Budd's Creek which should be a really fast track. I can feel it,
there is a win just around the corner!
And THANKS for visiting the MAVRIK
Racing pages!
