This year, we traveled to
Norwalk with our good friends and supporters, Eric and Emily Pettit.
In addition, their son, Nick, joined us as a last minute entry as he had
just broken his foot and needed some attention.
We got to make 2 passes Friday
night in the test and tune session with both passes being in the 10.50
range. Not to worry, I assumed I could do a little tuning Saturday and
make it all better. Boy did I make changes, the first pass in the
Saturday qualifying session was a 10.03! More changes were in order to
make the 10.30 field and the second pass resulted in my first #1 qualifier
position of my career with a 10.305 on the 10.30 index! It hesitated
off the line which I thought was due to not enough tire pressure for the
extremely sticky starting line so I figured I needed to de-tune a little
more. The 3rd pass netted a 10.49, no help, but we still retained the
#1 spot. We were really excited about Sunday.
First opponent was Dave
Ostrowske (Ohio Dave). I figured I need to cut a pretty good light and
then just keep a wheel out on him to win the round, but Dave had other
plans. Remember earlier I said I THOUGHT the bike hesitated due to the
sticky track?? WRONG!! It hesitated really bad on this pass
(like it had a delay box on it) for almost a second before finally picking
up and running like it should. It turns out, my air kill switch
decided to take some time off just then. Well, today, I fired the the
switch and hired a new one. I guess I can't complain, it did last me
over 2 years.
Thankfully, I at least did get
my first #1 qualifying spot. That made the 10 hour drive home quite a
bit more tolerable for our guests!
Stay tuned for more!
And THANKS for visiting the
