I look forward to Norwalk every
year. It is a really nice facility and a good, fast racing surface.
It makes the 10 plus hour drive much more bearable.
Traveling through West Virginia
almost to Ohio, things were peaceful when, without any warning, the driver's
front tire literally exploded. I thought racing got my adrenaline
going but that didn't hold a candle to this. Off into the grass median
we went, all 30,000 plus pounds and 55 foot length of us! We were damn
lucky not to have rolled the rig over on its side. 2 and a half hours
later, we were rolling again thanks to the Good Sam roadside assistance plan
I purchased for $79.95 (Sue made me do it, she's pretty smart).
I was still kinda shook up when
we arrived at the track and decided test and tune was probably not a good
idea. Instead, I registered for ET as well as SS so I could get some
extra passes on Saturday. That seemed to be the ticket as we qualified
#5 with a 10.333.
Like last year, Sunday morning
found the starting line way more sticky than many had anticipated with bike
after bike bogging on the starting line. While I hated to see it, I
realized that I was not the only one who this happened to. I raised up
the tire pressure for round 1, and got the win. Round 2 had me against
Doremus, always a tough racer, and the ET's came in at 10.31 and 10.35 with
me getting the hole shot but Dave getting the win light.
I guess I used up all my racing
luck keeping the motor home from tipping over on Friday, I'll take that over
a win every day!
See you at Budd's Creek.
Stay tuned for more!
And THANKS for visiting the
MAVRIK Racing pages!
