In October 1999, I went to
the HOT ROD BIKES drag racing seminar at the AHDRA race at Rockingham.
After that experience I knew I wanted to drag race! In March 2000, the
MAVRIK Racing team was formed. At that time, I was just playing around
with the idea of running a drag bike. The problem was that I didn't
have a drag bike and had no idea what I really wanted except that I knew I
wanted to go fast! So I did the next best thing, I modified what I
had. That was my 1996 Softail Custom.
My first race was April 2000 with the AHDRA at Reynolds, GA in the ET Class.
I lost in the first round because I broke out. I learned that lesson well.
My next race was with AHDRA at Bristol, TN. I went six rounds and took
the ET Class win! Now I was
hooked! After that race, I started to formulate plans to build a real drag
bike. I studied every performance article I could find. I
already knew a fair amount about the big twin, but a Sportster was more in
my price range. From what I read, the Sportster was the best choice to
take the abuse I planned to dish out. After months of searching, I
located a partial wreck on e-Bay and successfully bid on it. Over the
winter of 2000, I tore apart the 1997 Sportster, bought some performance
goodies and assembled the NEW MAVRIK! Over the winter of 2002, I
removed the engine from the stock Sportster chassis and installed it in a
Schultz race chassis Check out the pictures on my PHOTOS page.
I have to take a moment here
to apologize for not updating my web site for some time. Life has been
VERY busy with work, racing, and now also having 3 Whippets (all of them
race as well)! I promise you I will try to take some time over the
coming months and do some updating on my site.
Thank you for continuing to
visit the MAVRIK Racing web site.
Changes are coming, please stay tuned.
We've been VERY busy over the past several
months.
And THANKS for visiting the
MAVRIK Racing pages!
