This model is an identical Cult3d version of a steel sculpture I created while in college at the University of Montevallo. The original was made of 1/4 inch steel rods, welded with a torch. I used over a hundred feet of .25 inch diameter steel rod to build the original - it's based on the outline of a regular cone 4 feet in diameter at the base. Needless to say, there was a fair bit of math involved in the design of this piece.
