David W. MurphyDavid Murphy worked for two major financial services companies before launching a career in higher education. He wanted to escape the "rat race" of the corporate world and enter the world he loves - teaching and writing.

David began his teaching career as an adjunct business instructor for Murray State University. From there he accepted a full-time teaching position with Phillips College, becoming the department head within one year. While at Phillips College, David created his first paid writing project - a book review for an Introduction to Business Law textbook. He left Phillips College for a tenure track
teaching position with Madisonville Community College in 1990, where he is still employed as a Professor of Business Administration.

Mr. Murphy teaches a variety of business courses - seven in all - and uses all aspects of his MBA degree in teaching his students and writing business plans. He teaches five courses each semester, except the ten years he worked part-time through the college as a small business counselor. David's writing experience includes the following:

 * Participating in writing 110 different business plans
 * Writing 18 marketing plans for local businesses as class projects
 * Reviewing more than 15 textbooks and writing an analysis of part of each
 * Authoring 6 test item files/test banks and coauthoring one test item file for major publishers
 * Writing an instructor's manual and revising a second one for major publishers
 * Creating 2 Internet Study Guides for revised editions of textbooks
 * Coauthoring 2 genealogy/family history books with his son Nathan
 * Authoring 2 genealogy books about Muhlenberg County, Kentucky
 * Writing articles for a genealogy quarterly publication
 * Generating a marketing plan for the business department at Madisonville Community College
 * Authoring a booklet on network marketing

David is married to Linda LaDuke Murphy and has four children; each of them very talented in his or her own right. He has helped prepare each of his children mentally, emotionally, and financially for college.
