PURPOSE:

To provide ministry to singles including never married, single again or widowed adults.

WHO WE ARE:

Middle of the Mitten Christian Singles (MMCS) is a ministry founded to provide single adults in the Gratiot County area and beyond with opportunities to find true community through fellowship that only happens in the context of relationships with other believers (Acts 2:42-47; John 13:35).

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. [43] Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. [44] All the believers were together and had everything in common. [45] Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. [46] Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, [47] praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. NIV

John 13:35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. NIV

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To seek unity in Christ among singles by providing fellowship opportunities through concerts, seminars, and social activities. (Phil 2:1-4)
  2. Phil 2:1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, [2] then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. [3] Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. [4] Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. NIV

  3. To bring glory to God through praise, prayer, Bible study, and deed by reaching out to others in Godís love (Psalm 108:5; Psalm 115:1; Luke 2:14; I Cor 10:31).
  4. Psalm 108:5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth. NIV

Psalm 115:1 Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. NIV

Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests. NIV

I Cor 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. NIV

  5. To mutually learn to minister to one another while giving undivided devotion to the Lord. (ROM 12:10-13)
  6. ROM 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. [11] Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. [12] Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. [13] Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. NIV

  7. To provide an atmosphere where members may mature and develop a vital relationship with Jesus Christ (ROM 15:7)
  8. ROM 15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. NIV

  9. To help place Christ in the center of our lives and become consistent, daily witnesses of our faith (John 17:20-26; EPH 4:2; Col 3:12-17; 1JN 1:7)
  10. John 17:20 My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, [21] that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. [22] I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: [23] I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. [24] Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. [25] Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. [26] I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them. NIV

EPH 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. NIV

COL 3:12-17 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. [13] Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. [14] And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. [15] Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. [16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. [17] And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. NIV

1JN1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. NIV

  11. To maintain an environment where people feel accepted, have a sense of belonging, and enjoy fellowship in the spirit of Christian love (ROM 12:16; EPH 5:19; 1JN 4:11-12)

ROM 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. NIV

EPH 5:19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,.. NIV

1JN 4:11-12 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. [12] No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. NIV
