GROUND RULES

 

  1. Flying is restricted to club members and their guests, provided that the latter have current FCC licenses and AMA memberships.
  2. Cars must be parked in the designated areas only.
  3. Flight boxes and models being prepared for flight shall be restricted to the pit area.
  4. On arrival at the field, all transmitters will be placed in the impoundment area with the antenna collapsed.
  5. No transmitter will be turned on unless the appropriate frequency pin (clip) is attached to the antenna.
  6. All transmitter antennas must display a frequency flag color-coded to the frequency in use.
  7. Possession of the frequency pin shall be limited to 15 minutes if others are waiting.
  8. Engines will only be run at idle in the pits. Pits are on the North and South ends of the lean-to and the width of the lean-to.
  9. Engines run above idle this will be done forward of the lean-to in the designated run-up area, keeping bystanders under the lean-to and at the picnic tables out of the propeller arc.
  10. Extended running of engines for break-in purposes in the pits is not allowed.
  11. Do not aim prop wash at other modelers or their models.
  12. Spectators are welcome but must remain out of the pits, west of the pit line (ropes + stations) in front of the vehicles (unless invited) or under the lean-to.

 

MODEL REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. All models must comply with AMA safety requirements (rounded spinners or prop nuts, no metal props, no knife-edge wings, etc,).
  2. All new models (or models repaired after major damage) shall be inspected for structural integrity by the club safety officer before flight.
  3. Any radio newly installed in a model or having been in a model during a crash shall be ranged checked before flight.
  4. All internal combustion engines over .10 cu. In. in displacement will be equipped with a muffler.
  5. No nylon propellers (unless reinforced by fiberglass fibers are permitted on engines over .40 cu.in. displacement.

 

 

FLIGHT RULES

 

  1.  Taxiing a model through the pit area is prohibited.  Taxiing can be done from out of the pits to the runway, NOT in front of the lean-to.  Taxiing from one end of the runway to the other will be done on the runway as close to the centerline as possible.
  2. After landing, taxiing to the pits is prohibited.  Returning aircraft will be shut off in the run-up area.
  3. Takeoffs and landings must be made only on the active runway in a direction into the wind.
  4. Hand launching is permitted only from the taxiway at the pilot line.
  5. If models must be carried out onto the runway for a takeoff, this intention must be previously announced to ant other pilots.  Members pursuing this practice must promptly clear runway when the model is released.
  6. Pilots must stand on the pilot line (box).  Only pilots, instructors, and spotters are permitted to stand in the pilot’s box.
  7. No person shall stand on the edge of the runway.
  8. All takeoff and landing attempts shall be previously announced to other fliers.
  9. A landing aircraft has the right of   way over any aircraft taking off.
  10. A “dead stick” aircraft has the right of way over all others.
  11. When an engine goes dead in flight, shout “Dead stick” loudly several times to warn others of the impending landing.
  12. In any case of model malfunctioning in the air (radio or mechanical) promptly announce the problem to the other fliers in a loud voice.
  13. Any person wishing to retrieve a model form the runway shall previously announce this intention to other fliers.
  14. No engine restarts will be made on the runway.
  15. You will not fly over the pits, spectator area, parking lot, or any area where people are permitted to congregate.
  16. Low fly-pasts are not permitted closer to the pilot’s box than 20 ft.
  17. No more than 5 models are permitted in the air at once.  (Glider Regatta annual fly in is the only exception).
  18. There shall be no flying during runway mowing operations.

 

OTHER RULES

 

  1. Fliers will not consume alcoholic beverages or drugs before or during any flying.
  2. Pets shall be confined to the spectator area.
  3. Leave the field in the same condition or better when you depart.
  4. No person will attempt to fly a model without being accompanied by an instructor unless they have reached the minimum flight proficiency level.
  5. Smoking is not permitted around gasoline-fueled models.
  6. No person will attempt to start an engine or fly a model while alone at the flying field.

 

Field Reminders…..

Just a few quick reminders about the rules at our fly field.

 

  1. Try not to drive in the same tracks from the gate to the parking area….this will help keep grass in good shape.
  2. Park behind the row of trees and ropes to the west of the pit area.  Don’t park in the pits!
  3. Use the spool table or model start-up tables for working on planes; not the picnic tables.
  4. Put trash in cans not on ground….if cans are full new liners are in the storage building.
  5. Run up engines in the north and south edges of the pits (run up areas).
  6. Don’t taxi behind the pilot line or in front of the lean-to.
  7. Pull frequency pin before turning on radio!!
  8. Don’t hog pins…..Share with others on your channel.   Replace pins on board when done flying.
  9. Don’t fly over the pits, parking or spectator areas.
  10. Close gate when you exit the field.
