
Article I
Name
The name of the organization shall be the Mid- Missouri Modelers, hereafter called the Club.
Article II
Object
The objective of the organization shall be to promote model activities in the Mid-Missouri
region with specific emphasis on, but not limited to, radio controlled miniature aircraft for the
enjoyment and recreation of its members. It is a non-profit organization. All dues and monies
shall be used to provide and maintain a flying site and to promote Club safety, recreation and
enjoyment in activities relating to model
building and flying. The Club shall operate within the limits outlined by the Academy of Model
Aeronautics and under their charter.
Article III
Membership
1. Any person shall be eligible for membership upon indication of their desire to join
and upon agreement to initiate and maintain the following:
A. Membership in the AMA
B. Pay all dues of the Club.
C. Acceptance of new members will be the
last item of business at the meeting.
2. A JUNIOR member shall be 15 years of age or under and must meet all other
requirements as outlined for a member. A junior member shall have all privileges.
3. A REGULAR member shall be 16 years of age or older. he shall have all privileges.
4. A FAMILY membership shall include all members of the immediate household.
They shall have all privileges.
Article IV
Officers
1. Officers shall consist of the following;
A. President
B. Vice-President
C. Secretary
D. Treasurer
E. Newsletter Editor
2. Officers shall be elected for a one year term starting the first meeting in November of
each year. Nominations shall be made by the voting members at the October business meeting.
Elections shall be held at the following November meeting. Any additional nominations shall
be accepted from the membership between the October and the November meetings.
The election of officers shall be by written ballot at the November meeting.
Officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the members present at the November meeting.
Article V
Duties of the Officers
1. The President shall preside over all meetings and conduct them in a reasonable parliamentary manner.
It shall be his responsibility to check all financial and other records for accuracy and proper handling.
He shall be the spokesman for the club in all matters pertaining to it.
2. The Vice-President shall assist the President and as requested by the President shall guide/or assist in
all committee activities. He shall act for the President in the absence of the President.
He shall act for the President if the President is unable to perform hisduties. He shall become
President upon the resignation or other failure of the President to hold office or membership.
In this event a Vice-President shall be elected.
3. The Secretary shall record the minutes of each meeting and handle necessary club correspondence.
He shall make other reports as necessary. He shall be custodian of the official association
correspondence and shall maintain a copy of this constitution.
4. The Treasurer shall collect and maintain all monies due the club and make distributions authorized.
He shall present an account of finances at each club business meeting.
5. The Newsletter Editor shall be responsible for the Club monthly publication of the newsletter to be
called "The Flyer" and the mailing to all paid Club members. The newsletter shall provide the
membership with meeting dates, the minutes of the previous month's meeting, a Treasurer's report,
other reports from standing committees and a calendar of events for the upcoming month.
Articles of general interest may be included in the newsletter.
Article VI
Vacancies
Vacancies of the elected officers shall be filled by an official election at the first regular
Club meeting after the vacancy occurs.
Article VII
Dues
1. Dues are payable in advance by February 1st of each year. Members whose dues are not paid by
March 1st of each year shall be dropped from the club roster and mailing list.
2. Dues and monies shall be used to improve and maintain a flying field and promote
club activities.
3. Dues for all Junior, Regular, and Family members shall be set at $20 per year.
4. Dues for AMA shall be paid by December 31st of the preceding year.
5. A $5.00 fee can be assessed to any non-member who uses the flying field; except for
special guests of the club or a current paid member. This shall be a weekly fee
Wednesday to
Tuesday and is payable to any club officer.
6. Any person who uses the Club flying field must be a current paid AMA member.
Article VIII
Quorum
The officers and paid Club members attending a regular scheduled meeting shall constitute
a quorum present at such meeting to conduct business.
Article IX
Voting
All issues requiring membership vote must be passed by a simple majority at any meeting in which a
quorum is present unless otherwise stipulated in this Constitution. Voting shall be by show of hands
unless otherwise stipulated. Written absentee votes or proxy statements shall be considered valid votes.
Article X
Committees
1. There shall be the following standing committees.
A. Site: This committee shall devote its efforts to establishing rules and conduct at the flying field
and shall plan improvements and alteration at the Club flying field. The chairman of this
committee shall be the safety officer as appointed by the president. The chairman of this
committee shall be responsible for monitoring the field use and the collection of weekly
flying fees.
B. Publicity and program: This committee shall advise the news media of club activities such as
contests and special events. This committee shall arrange programs for all winter
meetings, namely November through April.
C. Membership: This committee shall devote its efforts to obtaining new members and
maintaining current members.
D. Calendar: This committee shall meet prior to the December Club meeting to set forth the
upcoming season's schedule of events.
This committee shall consist of the current officers and the newly elected officers.
The calendar is then to be presented to the membership at the December meeting for the
club's acceptance.
2. Membership on these standing committees shall be appointed by the president each year.
3. Special committees may be appointed be the president to serve until their project is
ended or terminated by the president.
Article XI
Amendments
This Constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the Club in which members have
been provided a seven (7) day written notice of the proposed amendment and must be passed by
the simple majority vote. Proposed amendment shall be read at least one meeting prior to the
meeting at which the voting takes place. Written absentee vote or proxy statements are
acceptable.
Article XII
Dissolution
In the event that it becomes necessary to dissolve the club, the president shall appoint a
special committee to sell all property. This money along with any balance in the club treasury
shall be donated to the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
Article XIII
Meeting Date and Time
The meeting date and time is established to be the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm. During the flying season, weather permitting, meetings will be held at the club flying field at approximately dusk. Off-season meetings will be held at the location published in the club calendar and in the newsletter.
Article XIV
Executive Council
An Executive Council can make decisions on behalf of the club, should the need
arise, and the club can not be brought together in a timely manner. The Executive Council will
consist of the current President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Newsletter
Editor.
