Edward Moore knife fight

PRINCETON DAILY CLARION WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2002

100 YEARS AGO (1902)

Ed Moore and James Bruner; two farmers, while trying to arbitrate a dispute over the division of a tract of land in Washington Township, today had an altercation which resulted in a fight. In the mix-up Moore seems to have got the worst of it and has sworn out of three charges against Bruner. It appears that Moore and Bruner were to leave the matter of the division of the land to a couple of arbitrators and both were to abide peaceably by the result or forfeit fifty dollars. It was understood that the agreement was signed by both parties and the deeds were being made over, when, it was claimed by Bruner, Moore raised an objection, claiming he was getting the worst of the deal. He accused Bruner of bribing the arbitrators. Hot words passed which finally ended in blows being struck and knives being drawn. Neither was injured, although Moore's clothes were cut.
