Rilian is the latest addition to our menagerie. He was already 6 months when we got him from the Sterling Animal shelter (a wonderful place that really cares about their animals). He was probably given up because he had too much energy, but what do people expect from a puppy? He loves it when I put on a heavy coat and gloves and fight with him. He's also learning to play tug of war.
His one bad habit is he loves to chase the cats. I don't think he'd know what to do if he ever caught one. I know Rumpleteaser has smacked him on the nose a few times, so I 'm pretty sure he's just having fun.
Rilian is just about a year old now and doing fine. He's learned to come when I call, heel and sit, and that's all I plan to teach him, as that's enough to get around in this world. Anything else he learns will just be for fun, like catching frisbees and swimming.
Rilian is named for Prince Rilian of Narnia, a character in C.S. Lewis' The Silver Chair, one of the books in the Chronicles of Narnia. We recommend both the books and the videos. He's also known as Sir Rilian Chompsalot because of his habit of snapping his teeth when he wants attention.
