Furball was once
known as "Rodent." She was one of 3 cats that followed my mom's
cat home and soon thereafter ended up with Anne and I. This was just weeks
before we got married. Anne's sister came up to help with wedding preperations
and took her home to New Jersey where she earned the nickname "Rodent"
by bringing one home almost everyday.
But then Anne's sister moved and Rodent, errr, Furball came back to
Massachusetts. Of course by then, we had bought a house in Pepperell. The
next winter she disappeared. Several months later on Valentines day, I heard
the screen shake in the frame in the window behind me while we were watching
TV. To our amazement, she was back. Her pads were all gone and she was
thin as a rail and her fur was all matted. A quick trip to the vet confirmed
that all she needed was TLC, and soon she was back to her old self (except
with a good deal less fur). My guess is that she tried to get "home" to
New Jersey but couldn't find a way across the Connecticut River.
Rumpy
are Furball are obviously sisters when you look at them, but if you
pick them up, you will find that Furball outweighs her sibling by quite
a bit. Perhaps this is due to her outdoorsy nature.
BTW, she still brings us "presents" quite often.
