We have two pairs
of barn swallows. One pair nested in our shed this year, but I don't
think any of their babies made it. The other pair nested in our garage
for the fourth or fifth year in a row and had 5 or 6 babies. 5 of them
made it. Here they are a day or so before their first adventure out.
Here's one of
them on his first day out. You can tell he's a youngster by the color of
his breast. The adults are darker.
While the other
three are out getting flying lessons, these two wait their turn.
