The Beautiful Stain Glass Windows of Trinity

People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle & shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within...

 

 

 

 

 

               The Altar Windows:

           the central window is the risen Christ

           who appeared to his disciples saying

          Peace be with you.

The Trinitatis Evangelische Kirche Window, Trinity Evangelical Church, was severely damaged due to anti-German sentiment and was removed.  It was discovered in storage in 1990, it was restored and replaced; it was the beginning of the restoration of all the windows.

Jungenverein is German

for "young folk."  The young people of Trinity raised the money for this window, which represents the Ten Commandments.

The Dove and Olive Branch, given by a teenage girl, Alma Teichner, are symbols of victory, hope and expectation of new life.

The Chalice with symbols of wheat and grapes depicting Holy Communion, was donated by the Roehm Family.

The Easter Lily, given by Olive Bloom, symbolizes Christ's resurrection.

The Pelican in her Piety:

legend has it that in a famine the mother pelican plucks open her breast and feeds her young her blood, thus sacrificing her own life.  The Moll family donated this window.

Presented by Marie Kraft, the Bee Hive is a symbol of the escape of the Hebrew people from Egypt, the sweetness of being in the presence of God and the works of Jesus for us.

The Crown and the Cross:

God's love for humanity is so great that He sent His Son to endure the cross so that mankind would share the crown with Jesus Christ.  This window was given by Irwin Burbach.

 

The Cross, Sacred Heart and Anchor were given by the Sunday School.  Christians have hope because Jesus, manifesting God's love, went to the cross, then ascended into the Presence of God.  As the anchor holds the ship in place, so hope hold the believer to Christ.

 

The Apostle's Creed

 

 

The Wounded Lamb, given by Emma Blakewell, depicts the Lamb as wounded, the halo designates Jesus is the true Son of God, the banner of victory in the form of a cross reminds us of the agony preceding Christ's triumph.

The Frauenverein, or Women's Guild, contributed the Open Bible window.  Through the works of translators and the development of the printing press, God's word is widely accessible to the common man; it opens the will of God to all people.
