Native American Poster Project

Mrs. Sutherland’s 5th Grade Class

Caughlin Ranch E.S.

Goal:  You will prepare a poster presentation for the class containing

information about a Native American culture. You will write paragraphs on the

   assigned topics.

Materials:

·        3 sources of information (informational book, internet, encyclopedia, etc.)

·       Outline map of North or South America provided by teacher

·       Poster board provided by the student

·       Index cards

·       Markers, crayons, colored pencils

Collecting Information:

·        The topics on the back of this sheet will be presented to the class

·         Write each topic heading on the top of an index card. One topic per card.

·        Write down supporting details (facts) on each topic on the index card as you find them in your research.

·        Write a paragraph on each topic.  Do not plagiarize.

·        Illustrate these facts on your poster with a symbol, drawing, picture, or artifact.  You may only use 2 computer-generated illustrations.

Poster:

·        Put the name of your Native American culture in bold letters on the poster

·        Present information on each topic on your poster.

ü     Be creative.  Think of an appropriate illustration or symbol for each topic.

ü     Write a caption for each illustration.

ü     The map will be your illustration for topic #1 “Where they lived?”

ü     Make it colorful.

ü      You may only use two computer-generated illustrations.

ü      If you have room, display your paragraphs on the front of the poster.  If not, attach them to the back.

Hint:  Draw your illustration on a separate sheet of paper and then glue it to the poster.  That way if you make a mistake you won’t need to redo your entire poster.
