Attendance    Birthdays    Book Orders    Illness

Attendance: Having your child in school, on time, ready to learn is one of the most important things a parent can do to insure your student's success.  In Kindergarten most of our learning is done in class through class discussions, interactions and hands on activities.  The worksheet we may complete is probably the culmination of many minutes of class time spent learning and practicing a particular skill.  This "in class" time can not be made up by merely completing a worksheet.  Your student needs to be in school!  School begins at 8:05 each day.

Birthdays: Birthdays are very special.  In our class we will celebrate every child's birthday, if this does not interfere with a family's religious or personal beliefs.  If your child has a summer birthday we will celebrate their "half birthday".  Our celebrations are simple.  Your birthday child will get a birthday crown to wear so that everyone in our school community will be able to recognize your child's special day and we'll sing "Happy Birthday".  If your child would like they may bring a treat to share with the class.  This treat does not have to be cupcakes, (a big cake is really too difficult to serve in the classroom setting) it can be anything that your child really enjoys.  If you and your child do decide to send a treat and possibly a drink please be sure to send anything that I would need to serve this item (EX. forks, spoons, plates, cups, napkins, etc.)  I will take a picture of each child on their special day.

Book Orders: Throughout the year ordering information will be sent home from certain book companies.  I like to offer families this opportunity to purchase age appropriate reading materials at reasonable prices.  Please follow the directions on the book order form.  Fully complete the order form and return a check or money order made out to the book company. (No cash, please!)  Return the completed form and your payment on or before the due date.  It usually takes two to three weeks for the book orders to arrive.

Illness: Regular attendance is very important but please, do not send a sick child to school.  When a child has missed school, for any reason, on the day they return to class they should bring a note explaining their absence.  All notes will be kept in your child's personal folder for this school year.

Fever: School Board policy states that a child should be fever free for 24 hours before             returning to school.

Vomiting: Please be sure that your child is truly over any vomiting before they return to            school.  I get very nervous when I greet a child, first thing in the morning, and they inform me that they threw up during the night or that morning!!!!

Colds and Coughs: When deciding if you should keep your child home please consider this:  Would you want a sick child with a messy cold or cough to play and work around your child?
