The Week of November 9, 2009

 

Monday - Music 
This week we will begin to learn about where we get our food.  We will continue to learn about Thanksgiving.  Today we will read Apple Farmer Annie.  Today we will work with the consonant Ff.  In Math we will continue working on the skill of patterning.  Homework  Have your child write their name on a plain sheet of paper and either cut out or draw three pictures of things that begin with the /f/ sound that you hear at the beginning of the word fish.  Have your child "Kid Spell" each picture name to the best of their skill level. 
 

Tuesday - Library
Did you bring in your pillow case?
Today we will reread Apple Farmer Annie.     Homework: Have your child use pencil to write their names and then carefully complete the Ff handwriting practice page.  Encourage your child to work carefully and to "stay within the lines". Be sure that your child traces each of the black letters as well as writing the other letters. 

Wednesday - PE Wear your tennis shoes! 
Veteran's Day
Today we will read the nonfiction selection From Strawberry Field to Strawberry JamHomework: Have your child write their name on a plain sheet of paper and either cut out or draw three pictures of things that begin with the /h/ vowel sound that you hear at the beginning of the word horse.  Have your child "Kid Spell" each picture name to the best of their skill level. 

Thursday - PE Wear your tennis shoes!
Today we will read The Little Red Hen and learn what it takes to make bread.  Homework: 1. Have your child "point and read" their little book.  Have each listener initial the back cover of the book and return the initialed book tomorrow.  2. Have your child use pencil to write their names and then carefully complete the Hh handwriting practice page.  Encourage your child to work carefully and to "stay within the lines". Be sure that your child traces each of the black letters as well as writing the other letters. 

Friday - Art
Today we will reread The Little Red Hen.   Next week our class will make homemade bread just like the Little Red Hen.   Homework: Continue practicing your complete address and telephone number.  Don't forget to include the zip-code with your address and your area code with your phone number!

Pillow Cases Needed by This Tuesday!

Each child is asked to bring in a plain pillow case that we may cut and turn into a Native American tunic by this Tuesday, November 10th.

Sincerest thanks to all of you who supplied our extra supplies and helping hands for our Fall Fun Activities on the 30th!  We were very fortunate to have six great moms who were able to come.  Thank you Courtney Radcliffe, Cathy Diebold, Scarlet Menner, Amy Daigle, Jennifer Tarbutton, Laurie Rogers.
A big thank you to Hang's family for sending in prizes for our prize boxes and to Chase's family for sending in paper towels.  All support is greatly appreciated!

"All About" Bulletin Board Begins
Each week a different student will be selected to make a display all about themselves.  When it is your child's turn to prepare their display you will receive a folder with directions and some materials that may be used.
