Big Ice: Pictures from the ice storm that hit us Christmas Day, and left us without power for 4 days. Lots of downed limbs and snapped power lines made for an interesting Christmas! Check Kehvon's Facebook page for pictures of the pizza-cooking adventure, starring our trusty wood stove.
Christmas Decorating and the Big Snow: The girls came home for Thanksgiving, and as always we got the tree on Friday. This year they decided to go with a candy-cane look. Then on the 18th, we got a BIG snow (14 inches on the deck), setting up for a great White Christmas.
Clark Family Reunion "Bigs": large files of the best of the family shots, suitable for printing. If you want the large version of a different picture (in the gallery below), just email me.
Stair/Hall/Guest room remodel: using wood from Terra Mai, a company that sells recycled timbers. This wood was from shipping crates from southeast Asia.
The stair rails are supposed to look like stylized trees and grass, in case you couldn't tell, going for an Craftsman-style look here. This was a lot of work, but worth it in the end.
New Zealand Photos!: Probably way more pictures than you want to look at, but trust me, we took lots more than this! Four people with digital cameras can capture a lot of photons.
The gallery pages are all black, in honor of the
New Zealand Rugby team, the All Blacks. I put captions on all of the photos (which is why it took so long to get them posted); you may need to scroll down to see them.
Airports: shots in Charlotte, LAX, Auckland,
and Nelson
Christmas Decorations: lights both outside and inside, after a light snowfall. A great quote from a comedian (I'm forgetting which one) goes something like, "Christmas is a drunk person's holiday: 'I know, let's cut down a tree and put it inside the house, and then put a bunch of lights outside!'"
Old Dudes Playing Soccer: A picture of the over-40 team I played on in the State Tournament, Nov 15-16, 2008. We came in second place, which was pretty good for our first time ever! The team we lost to in the championship has won it for the last four years.
New Lamp: a lamp I made for Ashlyn. Another Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired design, this one with a definite Japanese twist. You can't see the fibers in the mulberry paper in these shots much (a bit in the first picture toward the top of the lamp), but they're fabulous. The first few shots are of the lamp on the dining room table, the last two are on the side table (which I also made) in Ashlyn's room.
The main legs are maple with a light cherry stain, and the contrasting wood is walnut.
Thanksgiving pics: Pets, family and even a Christmas tree (since we put it up on Friday after T-day)
Lamps: Two lamps I made out of some wormy chestnut barn wood. The first one with three lights is going in our living room; the other small one is for Kehvon.
Both are Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired styles.
Picture of Ashlyn's club team after winning the Atlanta Cup (a HUGE tournament with over 700 teams competing in all age brackets). Nice big trophies for a change, instead of medals.
Kehvon's Table: Pics of the dining room table I made for Kehvon. It's a blend of walnut, ash, and maple woods, with some inlays and a removable leaf. Lots of work, but I think it turned out worth it. Heather wants to keep it and send Kehvon our old one...
YouTube Channel: I created a "channel" on YouTube where I'll post videos from Ashlyn's high school soccer games. If you subscribe to the channel, you'll automatically get an email when new videos are uploaded.
Soccer Website: I'm helping with Ashlyn's high school team website, so check it out as the season goes along for links to news articles, photos, videos, etc.
Scotland Trip!: Pictures, with descriptions, from our trip to Scotland over Fall break to see Kehvon.
