EMERGENCE OF THE CRANE
arriving back at the destination of myself
time folded back upon its skeleton
a
japanese oragami crane of
light
softly pregnant with promise
peeks outside the perimeter of my nonlinear body
the
crane observes a silent field of rusted corn
pungent with the scent of transition
watches how the crackling stalks of golden promise
busy leaves waving back and forth in the wind
carefully erase the blackboard of my memory
on
which my slow deliberate frozen steel fingers
traced too many illusions
heated by your millisecond glance
tiptoeing above the rim of a glass of wine that lost its way
in
a Thai restaurant
the
crane unfolds itself
spreading into the wings of an angel’s desire
filling the mold of my translucent skin
with a million possible roads to
conquering the Wizard of Oz
again
