FLAT UNIVERSE

I thought the universe was curved

undulating like the great curve of a woman’s hip

but now they say it’s flat

leveled to a straight-edge by a bored bricklayer creator

and it’s expanding

like a glass of water spilled onto a mirror

with newly minted planets and stars flitting about on its surface

like mail-order seahorse creatures playing in the ether
