THE FROZEN ECHO OF YOUR
PRESENCE
your scent
infused into the walls
frames the rectangular mummified silence
left by your absence
shimmering ghostly icons of your body
rise and fall
parallel to me
as the empty shadows of your body enfold me
in the unpredictable bedroom twilight
faint pockets of negative space
places where you once stood sighed contemplated
are scattered about these rooms
tiny galaxies of black hole singularity longing
revolve steadily around your photographs
displayed carefully on green marble
positioned outside of time
a memory
a replica of a brief moment
a nanosecond glimpse of languid ardor
that saturated me
locked me down
deadbolted me to the floor
returns
drifting remnants of your glance
fallen down from the space your presence occupied
not so long ago
circle my hand
i clutch at them in vain
and grasp air
