The Midwest Canoe Association is a group of people involved in Marathon Canoe Racing in the NE , KS area. The MCA was founded in the mid 1960's to promote canoeing in Nebraska. Through the 60's and 70's the MCA helped to create a racing circuit in NE, KS and Iowa along with a series of float trips and other activities. In the 80's and 90's the focus shifted more toward racing. The equipment became more high tech and C-1's became popular in this area. Later on we will post a more detailed history of the MCA and some of the people who have done a lot for this club through the years. Currently we have members from NE, KS, IA, CO, NC and MO. Most of the longer running races in this area are no longer being held, but there are still a few well-organized races along with some small "training" races.
