Mr. Whitney (click to go to my "personal bio" page)

These web pages began as part of my Technology II course at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. From June 1997 through August 1999 I attended graduate studies at RPI in their Master's of Science in the Natural Sciences for HS Teachers of Math and Science degree program, part of their Center for Initiatives in Pre-College Education. This program at RPI brings together Math and Science teachers to explore new ways to teach in our disciplines. I really enjoyed the experience at RPI, and hopefully I have grown as a teacher and a person because of this opportunity.

South Hadley HS Tigers!Back in the "real world" I teach Mathematics at South Hadley High School in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Prior to joining the team at SHHS in 2005, I taught for 20 years at the The High School of Commerce.High School of Commerce in Springfield, MA. My years with the Springfield Public Schools were generally positive, and I leave behind many good friends and colleagues. It is still my opinion that the HS of Commerce is the best choice for a HS in Springfield, due largely to its International Baccalaureate program.

If you wish to contact me, I can be reached at South Hadley High School. Our mailing address is:

I thank you for visiting my web pages.

If you are interested, I have written a short "personal bio" statement which can be accessed by the following link: Personal Biography Page. There you can find information on my educational background and teaching experience, the reason for my choice of mathematics teaching as a career, and some of my general interests outside of teaching.
