Holiday Season
I enjoy this time of the year for both it's holidays and changes in nature. People are not the only ones to do last minute shopping. You can still find a squirrel or a bird gathering the last bits of food and nest material to get it through the winter. Something wonderful happens to the air. It becomes more crisp and alive as it pulls the moisture together to produce snow.

The true start of the season for me is Thanksgiving. A holiday that the sales world completely
overlooks. This bothers me. This day originally had a meaning, thankfulness. The pilgrims were thankful to be alive, not for a bountiful harvest as legend would lead us to believe. After all the previous winter had claimed 47 lives. For more facts on how this holiday actually got it's start go here.

I should also add that the gifts from the Native Americans of food and knowledge on how to survive here was the first step to bringing me into this world. You see my ancestors came over in the 1500's and eventually some of them married Natives. Skip ahead. My great grandfather was full blood Cherokee.

So on this day take a few moments to consider all the good in your life. I'm thankful to be here and in good health. I'm more thankful for my husband and family. (I love you all.)
