It's Here !

My Stoddard Hamilton Glastar kit has
finally arrived!
On May 24th, 1999 this is how the over-sized crate
was delivered to my yet to be finished garage. The
1900 pound crate was picked up with
a tilt-and-slide flatbed truck at the freight terminal in
E. Providence, RI. It was slid onto the truck with a fork lift,
and strapped down to the flatbed in about 5 minutes. Once
we arrived at my house 30 miles away, the truck backed up
to the overhead door, and literally placed it inside
the garage. This is the only way to get a kit plane delivered!

This is what the inside of the crate
looked like once I pried it open.
If you look close, you will see the entire inside of the fuselage,
tail section, and just about every available nook and cranny had a box
stuffed in it. It took me approximately 15 hours to open the crate and
carefully inventory all of the parts inside of it. There are plenty of small
items
in those boxes.

Here are a couple of shots of the
fuselage and intricate cage structure
which carries the structural loads and protects the passengers.
The skin of the fuselage is fiberglass and the two skin halves need to be
joined in the middle.
