Here is my Pro Funnycar Mud Bog Racer.  I used to race for the NMRA (National Mud Racing Association) all around New England, and as far south as New Jersey.  The car is now retired, but it sure was a lot of fun to drive!  It weighs 2,810 pounds with me inside, and the engine delivers 1,150 Horsepower!  This makes for some really interesting driving.  This car will travel from 0 - 100 MPH in approximately 2.5 seconds IN THE MUD!  WOO HOO !!

Way back when in 1984 I started out with a 1980 Chevy stepside 2WD truck, and ended up with this screamer.  After owning the stepside for a few months, I decided to do a frame-up rebuild and a conversion to a 4WD.

What A Pile Of Useless Looking Junk !

Here is what I started out with after wrecking my 1980 2 Wheel Drive Chevy Stepside truck.  The beer kegs are there so nobody would run over the bare frame laying in the driveway!  This was a pretty sad looking pile of junk.

This is what that pile of junk turned into.  This is where I got my beginnings of serious off-roading and semi-pro mud bog racing.  The pictures on the left were taken at the Westport Fair, and on the right are just a couple of my off road expeditions.

When my street truck days came to an end, I turned my truck into this Modified Class mud bogger.  Notice the modified wheelbase, the front wheels were moved forward 3 feet to give the truck a much better weight distribution.  I also cut every non-structural piece out of this vehicle to help lighten it for faster times down the track.  This is where I first experience shooting "across" the mud, rather than "bogging" through it.  This was getting fun!

My race truck is now a slimmer, faster ride.

When I could not reduce the weight of the full sized truck any more, I built a lightweight tube chassis and used just the skins of the original truck to dress up the new frame.  Since I was on such a low budget for the entire project, I concentrated on building my engine and getting the chassis right.  It paid off and this vehicle was a great performer, and I was able to do it for a lot less money than the competition.
