Nebraska Elks Association Sponsors Drug Awareness Contests
The Nebraska Elks Association will be conducting its annual Red Ribbon Month
Drug Awareness Poster and Coloring Contests.
The Drug Awareness Poster Contest is open to boys and girls
from areas served by a Nebraska Elks Lodge in grades four, five, and six. The
entries must be the original work of the student and must address the illegal
use of drugs, alcohol, or smoking. Entries must be submitted on paper no
larger than 11 by 24 inches. The back side of entries must include the
student's first and last name, home address, phone number, and school name.
All entries will be judged separately by boy and girl and by grade.
The Drug Awareness Coloring Contest is open to boys and girls
in third grade. The picture to be colored should come from the most recent
Elks Drug Awareness Coloring Book and should be the Nebraska Elks entry in that
book Coloring books can be obtained from the Drug Awareness Chair at your
nearest Nebraska Elks Lodge. The back side of the entry should have the student's
name and the same information that the poster contest requires.
A $50 Savings Bond will be awarded to the top boy and girl
entries at each grade level by the Nebraska Elks Association. Local prizes
may be awarded by your nearest Nebraska Elks Lodge, but check with the Drug
Awareness Chair at that Lodge for this information. Entries are due to be
received at your nearest Nebraska Elks Lodge by 5 p.m., Friday, October 29th,
2004, to be eligible for judging. Local winners will be announced by
mid-November and state winners will be announced by the end of January, 2005.
