The Norfolk Elks had a special "Kick-off Patriotism Week" Dinner at
the Norfolk Elks Lodge Friday evening, February 13th. More than 50
Elks and guests attended.
Councilwoman Vicki Saunders lead the ceremony by reading the Norfolk City
Council's Patriotism Week Proclamation. In her comments she praised the
Norfolk Elks for providing leadership in the community for promoting
"Patriotism Spirit" and for its many Flag Day presentations throughout
the community.
Also on the program were Stephanie Parks, a sixth grader from Northern Hills
School and daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Parks; and Jacob Malcom, an eight
grader from the Allen Community Schools and son of Michelle Saxen. These
students read their winning "Patriotism Essay" themes to the audience.
After the "Pledge of Allegiance" was recited, the audience enjoyed a
fine dinner prepared by Tony and Marie Kochenash, Chairpersons for the Event.
