About nine years ago, I decided it was time to stop wishing I was fit and healthy and do something about it,
so I found a weight loss plan that worked for me and got even more serious about Pilates and
walking to increase my fitness (I already loved both, but it was time to kick it up a notch). But one thing that
I knew for certain--I wasn't about to sacrifice good desserts to squeeze into a smaller size. So one of the first
things I did was take my lifelong love of baking in a new direction--learning to make treats I could enjoy as part
of my new way of eating and living.
Now after nearly eight years at my weight goal (and going strong), I'd like to share some of the goodies I love
with all of you. These recipes use traditional ingredients, but are all lightened up where possible by substituting
lower fat or non-fat ingredients or by bringing in whole grain elements, and when I've tinkered all I can (because
really, how much about a sugar cookie can you change?), then I utilize portion size to control the calories. That's
right -- when Niceole cookie servings say "one cookie," it's really one cookie, not three cookies masquerading as one!
For those of you who like to know exactly what goes into your treats, you'll find full ingredient lists for all the
cookies that are available at Niceole as well as nutritional info for each treat so that everyone trying to maintain
a healthier lifestyle can keep track of just how much they can indulge. |
