Tony,

I think that the slogan "Leadership not Incumbency" will lead directly into a nice one page flyer we can hand out at fly-ins.  The Big Story can be put on your campaign web site.  I'm convinced that any negative campaigning will backfire immediately and McNeil will seize upon that and point it out to distract people from the real issues.  In my opinion, instead of negative comments, you should concentrate on the "lack of positives".  That should be a very easy set of points to make about McNeil, you can start with the monthly AMA column and tell them to compare it to the other district's staff and what the lack of AVP's mean.
The other hard part is to convince people why they should care about who sits in Muncie, and how they change that.  Another important asset to your campaign will be McNeil himself.  We should put as much of McNeil and his AVP's contact information on the flyer as you can - e-mail addresses, home address, AMA address and phone numbers and encourage people to contact him with a basic set of questions.  I can guarantee that once people talk to him personally, the votes will come rolling in.
Voter education should be a part of the campaign also. The reason so many people sent their ballots to the AMA was because they were attached to their renewal forms.  They didn't want to spring for another stamp!!    Hopefully the AMA will change how they do the ballots by the next election.

Has anyone figured out the significance of McNeill's listing of Steve
Kaluf [AMA Technical Director] as AMA Advisory Consultant under where he
lists himself as Frequency Coordinator?  Is he saying he doesn't have a
clue about scanners and analyzers and has to use Muncie paid employees rather
than appoint a qualified person from his own district to the job?

I was wondering that myself also. We have a highly qualified person in
District V that was frequency coordinator and for some reason he is not
anymore. I believe Tony Stillman should be frequency coordinator for
District V again since he knows more about this than anyone else in the
District. If Tony will be frequency coordinator please let him be it
again.

FYI

I assume since "ama5" was included in the To: part of this message from Mr.
McNeill he wanted it to go to the AMA District V e-mail subscribers.  He
apparently is not aware that you cannot post to the group if you are not a
subscriber.

David Harkey.

This District 5  Frequency Coordinator business  that Red
Scholefield and his buddy Tony Stillman have been harping
on recently has really nothing to do with WHO is qualified to be the Dist
5 Frequency Coordinator. It is 100% politics.  Red and Tony's style of
politics. Dirty politics. I recently offered the Frequency Coordinator job
for District 5 to Tony Stillman and he turned it down.  Tony doesn't want
to be Contest Coordinator,  Tony wants my job. Dist 5 VP. I offered the
job to him through his best friend and principal Campaign Manager Red
Scholefield.  Red replied Tony is too busy assembling a new crew to take
over the District and wouldn't have time for the job.  Tony's reply was
some silly nonsense about I owed him an apology before he would take the
job. The funny thing is: The election isn't til NEXT year and Tony isn't
even on the ballot yet. As you well know, David, there is nothing those
two would not stoop to to bad-mouth me.  I am in my 4th year doing my own
frequency scanner business and the only person/s to complain are Red and
Tony Stillman.

I sometimes wonder, based on past appointments made by McNeill, if the
individual's qualifications really enter into the equation. Even AMA
by-laws listing the requirements have been ignored in more than one instance.

Mr. McNeil,

I have been watching how you do your job as District V VP and have come to one conclusion.  You really, really need to go.  Obviously you have been in this position for far too long to realize that this position is not your **personal** position within the AMA.  Most of the modellers in this district fly RC, and you have no knowledge of this hobby whatsoever.  You take any challenge to the **elected** position of District V Vice President as a personal attack.  You even have the gall to say that the Frequency Coordinator position is political.  You, Mr. McNeil are the one who makes the position political.  Obviously you don't listen to any other dissenting opinions in your district since I have been able to find many, many people who are dissatisfied with your handling of the VP job as well as FC job without even trying.  Your inability to even honorably handle the passing of a distinguished member of this district was very shameful as well.
Why do you think that we have started to lobby against you so far in advance of the 2004 election?  Why do you think that your number of AVP's dwindles?  Why do you think that there is a growing groundswell of members and clubs in the Southeast that can't wait for "Regime Change" here in District V?  It is so obvious to everyone else here in the Southeast that it is time for you to go.  Why can't you see it yourself?
Please, Mr. McNeil, stop dragging down all of the modellers and AMA dues-paying members here in District V.  Resign.
