Fun Fest
Pet Dog Show 2005
Paris Lynn fluffed up her new red ruffle and tied a red bandana on Noelle Marie the doodlebug.  "It's time for the Fun Fest Pet Dog Show!  I have entered us in the Most Beautiful Female contest, and Chessy will be in Handsomest Male."
Noelle Marie looked at her bare skin showing on her back where she was shaved for her knee surgery.  "I do believe I will wear a skirt, too, or I will surely sunburn!"
"We'll be flowers for the Costume Contest," Paris Lynn giggled.
"Last year I was sunshine.  This year I'm a flower!" Chessy laughed while he looked at Susiemom's gardening hat and watering can.
"What a neat idea our Auntie Debbiemom of Deedles Orphanage had," Noelle yapped.  "Susiemom can carry me in a flower pot since I can't walk that far yet."
"Uhhhhhh-ooooooh!!! I forgot about the bees!" Noelle Marie yipped.
The three little corgis bloomed and blossomed.  The potted doodlebug was a big hit with the crowd.  When the winners were announced, they had won second place.  "What's our prize?" Paris Lynn asked anxiously as she accepted the red ribbon.  "A free bath at PetsMart!" the judge answered, looking at Paris Lynn's muddy tummy where she had to walk through puddles to get into the ring.
Paris Lynn gasped and covered her mouth with her spotted dotted paw.  "Uh, on behalf of Barney's Orphanage and Paris Lynn's Charm Skool, we will donate our prize bath to the animule shelter."
That afternoon there was a terrible rainstorm.  Before the pet dog show, two inches of rain fell at the park.  Although Paris Lynn loves puddles, she knew that some other dogs didn't.  She was relieved to see the ring was set up on the concrete basketball court.  But getting to it almost required flippers and snorkles.
First Chessy competed in Handsomest Male.  He wore his newest red bowtie and Bob the Tail bobbed happily from side to side as he paraded around the ring.
There were dogs of all sizes and shapes.  Chessy was glad he could stand next to his sheltie buddy Spense.  Although the judges seemed to like Chessy and Bob, they didn't win.  "Next year I'll tie a bowtie on Bob the Tail like Barney suggested," Chessy woofed thoughtfully.
Paris Lynn barked, "Whirled peas! World peace! World pees or something thereabouts!" everytime the judges looked her way.  Bare-bottomed Noelle Marie, wearing her tiny skirt, perched on Susiemom's arm while Paris checked for dropped treats on the concrete.  Lots of her friends were there.  There were Mr. Tyree and his little Miss Pepper, her friends Auntie M., Kinsey and Mystery, and behind them was Desiree from her vet's office with her dobie.
Paris Lynn wiggled and waggled when the judge stopped to pet her.  She knew that Lily Ruth and Barney were home playing dominoes with all their toes crossed for her.  The judge called her number!  She made the cut, but she didn't place.  Paris clapped her paws together in excitement.  "World whirled peas...or something!" she chirped happily.
At last it was time for the costume contest.
