My goal as a personal trainer is to incorporate several exercise modalities to help individuals find what works best for them to achieve their goals. My focus is to inspire, motivate and empower in all who need encouragement. Body work and movement have become a passion for me and as a lifetime student, I’m always studying to gain more knowledge about the human body; learning how to be as healthy as possible and sharing that knowledge.
Currently, I teach basic Pilates mat, Hatha yoga and Yamuna Body Rolling® group classes. Private sessions include instruction in strength training, Yamuna Body Rolling®, yoga, and Pilates. Private clients and students range in age from 13 to 90.
I have received training in Pilates Mat from the Physical Mind Institute and yoga teacher training through New Day Yoga. I am registered through the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. My personal training certification is through the American Council on Exercise. My body rolling training is through Yamuna Zake in her studios in New York. I have a Ph.D. in Horticulture which explains my great interest in plants and their use in aromatherapy.
My newest endeavor is called Healing Touch. It is a gentle biofield therapy which utilizes the energy of the human body to assist in restoring health and promoting the healing process. It is often effective in symptom management such as reducing pain, diminishing nausea as well as decreasing anxiety, apprehension and restlessness. I have completed Level 4 training and am considered a Healing Touch Apprentice through Healing Touch International.
My fitness philosophy is that you can begin a fitness regime at any time in your life to enhance your everyday functional activities. I’ve had several health issues that have made exercising difficult at times, so I understand the hurdles people face in taking the Next Step to a healthier lifestyle.
If you can slowly, one step at a time, incorporate some minimum habits into your life such as, eating healthier, and performing cardio, muscular strength, and flexibility exercises, you can lower your risk for injuries, stress-related illnesses, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
Take one step at a time.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
