Healing Touch is a relaxing, nurturing therapy. Gentle touch assists
in balancing your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Healing Touch works with your bio-field to support your natural ability
to heal. It is safe for all ages and works in harmony with standard medical
care. Healing Touch is defined as a type of biofield therapy by the National
Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine at the National Institute
of Health (NIH). Performed with or without touch, the techniques support
the healing process by creating a physiological reaction which influences
the body's energy centers. Check out healingtouchinternational.org website
for research on the benefits of Healing Touch.
Where is Healing Touch Used?
Healing Touch is used in a wide variety of settings including hospitals,
long-term care facilities, private practices, hospices, and spas. Janet
Mentgen, RN, founded Healing Touch in 1989 as a continuing education program
for nurses, other health care professionals, and lay persons. Today Healing
Touch has spread and is taught in universities, medical and nursing schools,
and other settings internationally.
What Happens in a Session?
The first session involves a consultation as well as a therapy session.
You will be asked questions to assist the provider in tailoring the session
to your needs. Then you will lie fully clothed on a massage table while
the provider gently places their hands slightly above or on you. Sessions
generally last 40 to 60 minutes. People frequently report feeling deeply
relaxed and peaceful during and after the session. There is a cumulative
effect of using Healing Touch over time and regular sessions are recommended.
