MEETING FORMAT (except in March)
Announcements:
The meeting begins with Club announcements, brief announcements of photography events of interest to photographers and artists, sometimes discussion of club business, identification and introduction of visitors and new members. All meetings are open to the public and visitors are encouraged.
Program:
A different program is planned for each meeting; either entertaining or educational relating to photography. Once a month - usually the first Tuesday of the month, a speaker from outside the club or club member gives a brief presentation of about 40-60 minutes.
A brief Refreshment break for discussion and coffee followed by
Display/Presentation of Member Photos:
On the first Tuesday evening of each month the club has a display/presentation of member projected images (digital) or film slides (35 mm) and on the third Tuesday evening a display/presentation of member prints. Each month a theme or assignment is suggested to challenge members for their images that month.
The member presentations are often a mix of both darkroom-processed photos and digital images. Some are from large format film, some from 35mm slides and some from digital cameras. Some images are from film, scanned into the computer, modified in Photoshop and printed digitally. Photoshop techniques, hints and procedures, digital cameras, digital printing and computer imaging are discussed.
These presentations are in the spirit of sharing and learning. Discussion of the image and composition are always encouraged. Criticism is always meant to be helpful and constructive. The slide and prints can be of new or old photographs. The photos can be presented for the purpose of showing new image approaches or techniques to others, for acquiring suggestions for improvement of a composition, for the learning of area sites for capturing images or just for obtaining the reactions of members and visitors to a particular image. For print display there is no restriction on size, mounting or commercial processing for these meetings.
Annual Competition/March meeting format:
A competition for best slides and prints of the year is held at the March. At these meetings selected slides (1st Tuesday) and prints (3rd Tuesday) are re-shown to the group by the members and voted upon by all members. Awards are made in three photographer categories (Beginner, Advanced, and Gallery/Pro). Awards are presented at the annual AACC banquet held on the 4th Tuesday of March.
