PLTA requirements

Click Pack Llama Trial Association (PLTA) for information on llama pack weight, mileage, elevation, manageability and obstacle requirements. You do not have to be a PLTA member to participate in this Pack Trial; however no records will be kept of the llama's certification unless the owner is a member (annual dues $30) and the llama is registered with PLTA (one time fee $10). We will have all forms available at Dupont, and you can join PLTA at the Pack Trial, becoming a member of the only national organization committed to promoting the pack llama. Bring your PLTA member number, the llama's PLTA registration number, the llama's ILR registry number (if one exists), the llama's birthdate, and your checkbook.

If you aren't a member of PLTA and just want to hike for fun, come anyway. If you don't want to bring llamas and just want to socialize with some great llama people, come anyway. We would appreciate additional helpers for the weekend; click the "Contact" button above to volunteer to help. Handlers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration

The deadline is April 28 to let us know you're coming to the Spring Pack Trial. We will have entry forms available when you arrive at Dupont. Fees are $9.00 per person per night, $10 per llama per night (whether or not they hike), and $5 recording fee to send results to PLTA. If you come just for Saturday, the fee is $9.00 per person, $10 per llama, and $5 recording fee.
