The Woodson Source Book

Byron's mother Minnie Woodson's research brought together five family lines. One line was connected after an article in Ebony Magazine in 1993.  Since then all 11 children of Thomas and Jemima Woodson have been accounted for.  The book covers 10 generations of fascinating family history past and present. The family today consist of over 1600 descendants of Thomas and Jemima.

Includes land records for Thomas Woodson dated 1807 in Greenbrier West Virginia, Thomas's will, church records, and land purchases of over 500 acres of land.  A  portion of that land has the Woodson Family Cemetery on it.

Two prominent children of Thomas and Jemima are Reverend Lewis Woodson and Sara Jane Woodson.  Rev. Lewis Woodson was one of the fathers of black nationalism and author of the Augustine Papers.  He was also one of the founding fathers of Wilberforce University.  Yale University has offered to publish Byron's second book on Rev. Lewis Woodson who was his great-great grand father.

Sara Jane Woodson was the first african-american female graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio and wife of Reverend Jordan Early.  Sara Jane became one of first african-american female college level teachers in 1856.
