| Bio | 6'7" and 275lbs. Long dark hair and beard. Large hands are callused.
Avoids eye contact but is polite and soft spoken. 38 years
old. Kuralt was "liberated" in an attack on a tribal encampment and sold to a successful old carpenter at the slave auctions as a child. He was treated well, learned good work ethics, and became more than manual labor for the artisan Jemal, his "master". Since they were often away from home on contracted jobs Jemal taught Kuralt how to read and write as well as how to plan and build in their spare time. As he grew large and strong Kuralt often participated in wrestling, boxing and sparring matches at the request of Jemal. Jemal would bet on him to win but Kuralt didn't mind as he was often rewarded for doing well. Kuralt learned how to wear armor and fight with weapons, although they were always faux, these competitions were not death matches or even bloody, the combatants were usually local tough guys or nobles looking for a challenge and Jemal made sure Kuralt was safe. Kuralt often fantasized about a life of an adverturer or mercenary. Being his own man and creating his own future as a free citizen. It may have been bloodlust from his orcan half, but he just knew there was more in his fate than pounding nails and climbing ladders day after day. Upon his death Jemal gave Kuralt his freedom in his will, it was payment past due for his years of servitude. Jemal's heirs would not accept this and refused to pay Kuralt a wage for his honest work as a free man. Sensing the obvious, Kuralt hit the road. He has looked for work in several towns but it seemed that half-orc carpenters are not in high demand. Especially ones without tools. The road has brought him to the capitol city of Terzyal where he would seek out an apprenticeship in the hope of making enough silver to purchase saws, hammers and nails. He is optimistic but cautious. The wind blows one of the posted fliers loose and Kuralt picks it up, thinking it is trash. He scans it quickly and then starts over, reading it several times before he is finished. Is this what he has dreamed of? It piques his interest and he heads toward the castle. |
