Passe Partout

We bought her from a fellow I met at DEC through a notes group. He was a salesman and knew after talking to me briefly what i did not even know at the time: Passe Partout was just right for us.
We did a boat shopping trip in 1993 right after the holidays. We drove from New England down to Beaufort, SC (beeufort), Beaufort (bowfort), NC, to Annapolis, MD. We saw three Tayana 37's in various stages of disrepair and of increasingly poor layouts.
I learned a few things from this trip: many people who order custom layouts for T37's shouldn't. One we saw didn't even had a nav area; there was a loran hanging in the quarter-berth area, and that was about it. The other thing was that even a retired couple cannot keep up with the bright work on a T37.
Then we got to Annapolis, where it was getting pretty cold and we were getting pretty tired, having been on the road for almost 4 days now, Bob, being the salesman he was, had the boat all warmed up between the MarineAir heatpump a/c and Espar heater. He had cleaned up the boat, and prepared the V berth so we could stay onboard. We had arrived. The boat was very clean with few modifications made since the first owner bought her. It was a clean canvas of an offshore sailing boat, on which we could paint our cruising live-aboard vision.
She came fully loaded w/r to the big ticket items necessary for safe offshore voyaging: there were storm sails, a life raft, radar, a cutter/staysail rig. complete suit of sails, low engine hour westerbeke, etc. She had all the raw ingredients that we would mold into a proper offshore cruising boat.
