Sailing

Sailing is a passion, a hobby and an escape. Over the years, we have had three boats: 26', 37', and 40'. We sailed the first, a Pearson Ariel 26 named Cachalot  from 1979 to 1993. Then we sold her to a young sailor from Gloucester, MA, and purchased Passe Partout, a Valiant Esprit 37.

In the winter of 1997/1998 we took off for a sabbatical cruise from New England, to Bermuda, to the Caribbean, and backup through the Bahamas, West Palm Beach, Beaufort, NC, and Buzzards Bay. Overall we sailed more than 5,000 miles, saw many wonderful places, read many books, and drank considerable amounts of rum.

After returning from "The Trip" as we refer to it now, we sailed Passe Partout for a few years until suddenly, a Nauticat 40 came on the market. We had to pounce on it as few of them are available now. Baby boomer wants a pilothouse it seems.

Sailing is addictive. I would recommend it to everyone.  Go Now!

Our trusty Passe Partout was sold to a nice Irish couple who plan on taking her to the Emerald Island.

You can look at the boat we now have, Aurora, which we hope to sail in retirement.
