My Home Town

I was born in Denver, Colorado in 1947. Having lived in Denver for the first 30 years of my life, I am still very partial to this beautiful city. I would like to share some of it with you.

Denver, the Mile High City, is a very dynamic, progressive city. It is nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. The highest city in the nation, Leadville, Colorado (two miles high), is only a couple hours away. Denver was first formed at the junction of the South Platte River and the Cherry Creek river during the gold and silver rush of the 1850's. It is now of one of the fastest growing cities in America.

A yellow circle in the center symbolizes the gold in Colorado's hill as well as the sun. The position of the circle represents Denver's central location in the State. The blue field in which the sun resides represents "Colorado's unmatched skies". The white jagged line refers to the mountains which form Denver's backdrop, "indicative of the wealth of silver in the hills". It is also symbolic of the Indian background in the State's history. The red foreground under the mountains is in reference to the red earth from which Colorado gained it's name.
